Where can I park?


Parking can be found in the Pedernales Electric Co-op parking lots (201 S. Ave. F), LBJ High School (505 N. Nugent Ave.), around the courthouse square, and in parking spaces streetside on those streets surrounding the courthouse, and on Main St. (US Hwy 290). NOTE: During opening weekend, Nov. 29-Dec.1, parking will NOT be allowed around the courthouse square. A shuttle will be available to take visitors from LBJ Middle School's Shockley Field (Victory Lane and LBJ Dr.) to the weekend's events. Parking is by donation.




Where are the restrooms?


Memorial Park has restrooms and port-o-potties will be available for use. Be aware that most businesses do not have public restrooms and that restaurants will only allow patrons who are dining in their facility to use their restrooms.




Where can I eat?


Johnson City has several restaurants. Food trucks may also be available on select weekends. Four restaurants are within walking distance from the courthouse; four are a short five minute drive from the festivities. NOTE: On opening weekend, Nov. 29-Dec. 1, a non-profit Chuck Wagon Food Court and food vendors at the Holiday Market Days will be serving food. Click here for more information on where to dine.




When can I visit Santa Claus?


Santa will be at the gazebo in Memorial Park from 6pm-9pm on Friday and Saturday until Dec. 21st. Photos are by donation.




When will the Grinch be in town?


The Grinch will visit Whoville on Dec. 21st from 6pm-10pm. Whoville is by the courthouse square.




Where do I go to hitch a ride on a tractor pulled hayride?


The hayrides load up across from Pedernales Electric Co-op headquarters on S. Ave. F. Rides are by donation.




Where do I go for a carriage ride?


Carriage rides pick up and drop off in front of Johnson City Bank located at 100 E. Pecan Dr. Carriage rides are provided by The Buggy Barn Museum. Cost for rides: $15.00/person, family of 4/$40.00, couple only/$35.00. Group rates are also available by contacting the Buggy Barn at 830-833-5708.




What are the dates for Lights Spectacular?


Lights Spectacular starts on Nov. 29 and runs through Jan. 5.




When are events scheduled and when can I see the lights?


All scheduled events occur on the weekends. However, the lights can be viewed every night of the week until midnight. Opening weekend is Nov. 29-Dec. 1. Please see our EVENTS page for more information.




How do I enter the Lighted Hooves and Wheels Parade?


Complete the parade entry form then email to info@lightsspectacular.com or mail to PO Box 254, Johnson City, TX, 78636. The parade is on on Saturday, Nov. 30.




How do I volunteer?


Plenty of volunteer opportunities exist. If you are interested in volunteering, email us at info@lightsspectacular.com.




On what date is the Lighted Hooves and Wheels Parade, at what time does the parade start, and where should I stand to watch?


The Lighted Hooves and Wheels Parade is held on opening weekend, Saturday, Nov. 30th. The parade starts at 6:30 pm. The parade begins at LBJ High School and proceeds down Nugent St. It makes one horseshoe around the courthouse before returning to the high school. Elves will be available to help you find the best place to stand and watch the parade.




Can I donate to or become a sponsor of Lights Spectacular?


Yes. You can donate by clicking on the "donate" button located at the bottom of each page of the website. Also, donation buckets will be located in several businesses throughout Johnson City. You may also become a sponsor. We have several different levels for sponsors. If you wish to sponsor the event this year, or for next year, or want information concerning donations and sponsorships, contact us at info@lightsspectacular.com.




Where can I stay?


Johnson City has two hotels and many B&Bs, AirBnBs, and VRBOs. Please visit the Chamber of Commerce website for more informatioin regarding lodging.




Who can participate in the residential and business lighting contest, what are the rules, and how do I sign up?


Click here for an application. The contest is open to all persons within ½ mile of the city limits of Johnson City. Recognition will be given for the best decorated residences and commercial buildings. Contest participants should turn on their Christmas lights by 6:00 p.m. on the night of the contest. Entry forms should be turned in no later than December 14, 2019. Turn in to Chamber Visitor Center, City Hall, or email to info@johnsoncitytexaschamber.com. Chamber phone number: (830) 868-7684.
